The history of the winery in the small village of Treiso stretches all the way back to 1939. After the war, Giovanni Lodali moved his winery from the small restaurant to a house with a large cellar.
He was the son of a farmer, so agriculture was close to his heart.
The years passed and, like many Italian winemakers, the wine was meant to be drunk soon.
The first big change came in 1955 when his son Lorenzo graduated from the University of Oenology in Alba. Already in 1958 Lorenzo and his wife Rita created their first Barbaresco and Barolo. Business was booming and the wines were also sold abroad.
Walter Lodali is born but only a few years later his father Lorenzo dies tragically. Rita had to drive the vineyard forward for almost 15 years and when Walter later followed in his father’s footsteps and took his degree in Alba, the quality work really began. Mother and son refined the vineyard sites Bricco Ambrogio and Rocco sette Fratelli.
Today, the hard work has really paid off. They now produce 100,000 bottles from vineyards in Barolo, Barbaresco and Roero.
Tribute to Lorenzo – the premium wines with the name Lornes have won several awards and Barbaresco Lorens 2019 and 2020 have both received 3 glasses in Gambero Rosso. The finest award a wine can receive in Italy.
